Romantic is the new Avant-Garde: Orticolario 2018

Villa Erba in Cernobbio, overlooking lake Como, is worth a visit in any time of the year.
But it’s in October that it hosts the most important event fair in northern Italy for avant-garde gardening: Orticolario.
We were happy to be among the 270 exhibitors that welcomed 28K people over a single weekend in this year’s edition.
It was a playful yet very elegant one, with a title that is a (rather untranslatable) pun in Italian language: “Si salvia chi può”. Labs for children were held in several spots alongside with workshops dedicated to the grownups.
Whimsical installations constellated the garden diffusing scents, sounds and charming misty clouds of vaporized water for a delicate touch of magic.

Once again we were delighted to collaborate with landscape architect Silvia Ghirelli who has already designed astonishing stands for past editions of the show. Here you can read about our 2015 collaboration.
For the 2018 edition we brought along some of our classics, such as textiles and cake stands, some recent additions to the catalog such as miniature glass bottles and some products that will be featured for the first time in next season’s edition of the catalog, above all the soup tureens!

And if it was the first time outside our showroom for certain items, it was also the last time for our beloved early XX century caravan. But we are happy to know it has found its forever home thanks to Orticolario!
